Choosing a photo for crystal engraving
The photograph is the starting point for a personalised pet memorial crystal. You do not need a studio session. You need a picture that looks like them, and, if you have them, a few more angles so the 3D model has something to work from.
What helps the engraving
- A face we can read: eyes, muzzle, and ears in reasonable focus.
- Light on the subject rather than a heavy silhouette against a window.
- A few different angles — front, three-quarter, and side if you have them.
- Up to eight images; we do not need dozens of near-duplicates.
One strong photograph is enough to begin. Extra angles simply give the model more to lean on when we engrave inside the crystal.
Older photographs
They do not have to be recent. We can often work from older pictures, including dogs long since passed on. Send what you have.
We will give a fair appraisal with no obligation, including when a picture is too soft or too small to engrave well. Honesty here is part of the work.
Formats we accept
JPG, PNG, WebP, and iPhone HEIC or HEIF, stored as uploaded. If you are choosing between several files, prefer the one where the face is largest in the frame and the light is even.

A gift, if that is the reason
A pet loss sympathy gift crystal is sometimes chosen for someone else. The same guidance applies: the photographs still need to show the dog clearly.
